Unlock your body's full potential with Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) at LIVKRAFT. Rejuvenate your cells and accelerate healing in a comfortable, luxurious environment. Enhance your overall vitality and energy with the latest in hyperbaric technology in the heart of La Jolla.

HOW IT WORKS
HBOT enhances oxygen delivery by increasing the amount of oxygen carried by red blood cells while also dissolving additional oxygen directly into plasma. This elevated oxygen availability allows oxygen to reach areas with restricted blood flow more effectively, supporting tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and accelerating recovery.

UNDER PRESSURE
The Fortius 420 chamber increases atmospheric pressure up to 3.0 ATA, allowing oxygen to dissolve more efficiently into the bloodstream. Under normal conditions, oxygen is primarily carried by red blood cells. However, with increased pressure, oxygen is forced into plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, and tissues at significantly higher concentrations—enhancing delivery to areas with restricted circulation. More pressure means more oxygen availability where your body needs it most.

OXYGEN RICH
Oxygen is the fuel for cellular repair, energy production, and regeneration. By increasing oxygen availability, the body can accelerate recovery, reduce inflammation, and optimize brain function. Whether you're healing from an injury, improving physical performance, or enhancing cognitive function, oxygen is the key to unlocking your body’s full potential.

YOUTHFUL SUBMARINE
A landmark study published in Aging found that HBOT lengthens telomeres by up to 37%, effectively reversing years of aging at the genetic level. Even more, HBOT reduces senescent (aging) cells by 37%, clearing out damaged cells that contribute to inflammation and disease. With the Fortius 420, you’re not just optimizing recovery—you’re actively rejuvenating your body from the inside out. Experience the power of science-driven longevity.

LET'S DIVE IN
At increased atmospheric pressure, oxygen dissolves more efficiently into the plasma, lymphatic system, and cerebrospinal fluid—reaching tissues and areas where circulation may be limited. Unlike traditional breathing at sea level (1.0 ATA), hyperbaric conditions exponentially increase oxygen availability, leading to accelerated healing, reduced inflammation, and enhanced cellular repair.

Our Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
At LIVKRAFT, we provide an advanced form of hyperbaric therapy that uses ambient and concentrated oxygen within a pressurized environment. The core of our therapy is to leverage pressure to enhance the body's ability to absorb oxygen, stimulating its natural healing and recovery processes.
We utilize a clinical-grade, hard-sided OxyHealth Fortius 420 chamber, which allows our medical staff to design precise protocols for our patients across a full spectrum of pressures—from a gentle 1.3 ATA up to a powerful 3.0 ATA. This capability allows us to harness the significant benefits of high-pressure therapy in a controlled, medically supervised environment.
How This Differs from 100% Oxygen HBOT
For comparison, the other main type of hyperbaric therapy is defined by its use of 100% pure, medical-grade oxygen. This intensive protocol is primarily administered in hospitals to treat critical and severe conditions such as severe burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, and non-healing diabetic wounds.Due to the inherent risks of using 100% pure oxygen at pressure (including oxygen toxicity and high flammability), this form of therapy requires extremely strict safety procedures. Patients must change into special cotton garments and are prohibited from bringing any personal items like electronics or fragrances into the chamber. These risks and procedures are why it is a hospital-based treatment and why the frequency of sessions is strictly limited.
At LIVKRAFT, our focus is solely on providing an advanced form of hyperbaric therapy that does not use 100% oxygen. This allows us to mitigate these specific risks and eliminate the need for such restrictive procedures, offering a more comfortable and flexible experience for our clients while still delivering the profound benefits of high-pressure therapy.
Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) is a non-invasive method that involves being in a pressurized enviorment and can also add breathing concentrated oxygen ito enhance the experience. This process significantly increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in the blood's plasma, which can then permeate tissues throughout the body, including those with limited blood flow (Thom, T. K., 2011, Journal of Applied Physiology). This enhanced oxygenation is understood to stimulate the body's natural healing processes and influence key biological markers associated with aging and tissue repair by triggering a variety of oxygen-sensitive genes and metabolic pathways (Hadanny, A., & Efrati, S., 2020, Biomolecules).
The use of mHBOT for longevity is linked to its effects on the fundamental hallmarks of the aging process at a cellular level. Research suggests the therapy can:
Promote Telomere Lengthening: Telomeres, the protective caps on our chromosomes, naturally shorten with age, a key biomarker of biological aging. A landmark human clinical trial published in the journal Aging demonstrated that a series of hyperbaric treatments in healthy aging adults not only halted telomere shortening but significantly increased their length by over 20% (Hachmo et al., 2020, Aging).
Reduce Senescent "Zombie" Cells: The same 2020 study found that the therapy reduced the presence of senescent cells—aging cells that contribute to inflammation—by up to 37%. The clearance of these cells is a primary goal in anti-aging research to help reduce the burden of age-related inflammation and conditions (Hachmo et al., 2020, Aging).
Stimulate Stem Cell Production: Stem cells are the body's internal repair system. Research has shown that the pressure and oxygen fluctuations during hyperbaric therapy act as a powerful signal for the bone marrow to multiply and release stem cells into circulation. One key study demonstrated that this process could increase the concentration of circulating stem cells by eight-fold (an 800% increase), enhancing the body's capacity for self-healing and regeneration (Thom et al., 2006, American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology).

While mHBOT using the industry gold standard Fortius 420 chamber at Livkraft is generally considered safe for many individuals, there are certain conditions and situations where it may not be recommended. Some contraindications and precautions for mHBOT include:
1. Certain Lung Diseases: Individuals with certain lung conditions, such as untreated pneumothorax, may be at risk due to the increased pressure.
2. Ear Issues: Those with chronic sinusitis, ear infections, or certain types of eardrum injuries might experience discomfort or complications due to the pressure changes.
3. Recent Surgery: Individuals who have recently had surgeries, especially surgeries involving air-filled cavities, should consult with their healthcare provider before undergoing mHBOT.
4. Certain Medications: Some medications, including certain types of chemotherapy and high-dose steroids, might interact with mHBOT.
5. Pregnancy: While there is no conclusive evidence of harm, pregnant women are generally advised to avoid mHBOT unless there's a clear medical benefit, due to the lack of extensive research on its effects during pregnancy.
6. Claustrophobia: Since the chamber is a confined space, those with severe claustrophobia might find the experience uncomfortable.
7. Eye Surgery. If you had any issues with your retina or experience eye pain due to pressure changes or lifting heavy objects you may not be able to participate in a Hyperbaric Chamber experience at LIVKRAFT.
7. Other Medical Conditions: Conditions like seizures or very high fevers might be exacerbated by mHBOT in some cases.
It's crucial for individuals to provide a comprehensive medical history during your intake, alert medical staff to any an all past and current conditions, and consult with your own healthcare professionals that you are under the care of before starting mHBOT at Livkraft. The professionals will evaluate the appropriateness of the treatment based on individual health needs and conditions.
Inside the hyperbaric chamber, especially one like the Oxyhealth Fortius 420 Livkraft, the experience is designed to be comfortable, but there are a few sensations you might notice:
1. Pressure Changes: As the chamber pressurizes and depressurizes, you might feel a sensation in your ears similar to what's experienced during airplane takeoffs and landings. This is due to the change in atmospheric pressure. It's often recommended to swallow, yawn, or gently pinch your nostrils and blow (Valsalva maneuver) to help equalize the pressure in your ears.
2. Temperature Fluctuations: The chamber may become slightly warmer as it pressurizes, and cooler as it depressurizes. This is a normal response to changing air pressure and being in an enclosed space.
3. Spacious Environment: The Elve EH36 is a spacious chamber, so you shouldn't feel overly confined or claustrophobic. Nevertheless, it's an enclosed space, so it might feel different from an open room. There is a large viewport at the top of the chamber where your head rests easily on 5-star Resort pillows to aid in making the experience feel more comfortable and spacious.
4. Increased Oxygen: If you're using an oxygen mask, you'll breathe in a higher concentration of oxygen than usual. This doesn't typically have a noticeable sensation, but you may feel more refreshed after the session.
5. Quiet and Relaxing: Inside the chamber, external sounds will be muffled, creating a tranquil environment filled with ambient white noise effect in addition to the therapeutic. Many people use this time to relax, meditate, or even take a nap.
6. Constant communication: Since you are able to take electronics inside the chamber, you are actually required to have a device with you to be able to communicate with LIVKRAFT staff during your session. LIVKRAFT staff will assist you inside the chamber, check on you during pressurization (the DIVE), check on you once your full pressure have been achieved, and then again at the end of your session to start the depressurization (the ASCENT)
It's important to note that if at any time you feel uncomfortable or experience any pain, especially in your ears, you should notify LIVKRAFT Staff via phone or text eat 858-401-2383 immediately.
The goal is to ensure the session is both beneficial, comfortable, and most importantly safe for you.
At Livkraft, safety is a priority. The use of the industry standard setting, Oxyhealth Fortius 420 Variable Atmosphere Mild Hyperbaric chamber for mHBOT ensures that individuals receive treatment in a controlled and reputable environment. The chamber operates between 1.3 - 3.0 ATM, which is considered a mild pressure. Additionally, the incorporation of an oxygen concentrator up to 10 LPM with a mask ensures precise oxygen delivery, with concentrations ranging between 87% to 96%.
Like any therapeutic procedure, mHBOT has risks and benefits. The risks associated with mHBOT at mild pressures, like those used at Livkraft, are generally minimal. Some individuals may experience ear discomfort due to pressure changes (similar to what one might feel on an airplane) or temporary vision changes, among other minor side effects.
If you are considering mHBOT, you will complete a comprehensive health questionnaire that is reviewed by one of LIVKRAFT’s physicians and other medical staff before you are able to participate in the hyperbaric chamber experience. A thorough evaluation will determine the appropriateness of the treatment based on individual health needs and conditions.
Safety measures, trained personnel, and adherence to established protocols help ensure the safety and efficacy of mHBOT at Livkraft. You are required to bring in your personal phone during the session so that you can communicate with LIVKRAFT staff during the entire treatment if you would like or need to get out early or feel any discomfort whatsoever.
The principle behind this lies in the basic laws of physics and physiology, particularly Henry's Law and Boyle's Law:
Being between 1.3 to 3.0 ATM in a hyperbaric chamber increases the pressure around an individual, which in turn has an effect on gases, including oxygen. According to Henry's Law, the amount of gas that dissolves in a liquid is proportional to the partial pressure of that gas exerted on the surface of the liquid. In simpler terms, when the atmospheric pressure increases, as it does in a hyperbaric chamber set to between 1.3 - 3.0 ATM, more oxygen from the air (or from an added oxygen source) can dissolve into the bloodstream.
Under normal atmospheric conditions, oxygen is primarily transported throughout the body bound to hemoglobin in red blood cells. With the increased pressure in a hyperbaric chamber, oxygen dissolves directly into all of the body's fluids, including the blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, and lymph fluid. This means that even areas of the body that might have reduced circulation, or areas where blood flow might be diminished or blocked, can still receive higher concentrations of oxygen.
This enhanced oxygen saturation in the body's tissues can support healing, reduce inflammation, and provide other potential therapeutic effects.
The ideal frequency and total number of hyperbaric sessions is a highly individual matter. At LIVKRAFT, every treatment plan is unique. Your specific protocol will be determined only after a thorough evaluation of your intake form and health questionnaire, followed by a detailed discussion with our medical staff to establish the best approach for your personal goals. That said, clinical research and real-world application have established several common protocols for different objectives, which provide a guideline for how hyperbaric therapy can be structured:
Longevity & Anti-Aging
Protocols focused on the biology of aging are often intensive to achieve meaningful cellular changes. The landmark Israeli study that demonstrated a significant increase in telomere length and a reduction in senescent cells used a protocol of 60 daily sessions, five days per week, for three months (Hachmo, Y., et al., Aging, 2020). This intensive approach is designed to create lasting regenerative effects at the cellular level.
Athletic Performance & Recovery
Professional athletes frequently use hyperbaric therapy as a cornerstone of their recovery strategy, often with daily sessions. Studies on elite athletes have shown that for recovering from exercise-induced muscle damage, daily sessions for several consecutive days following intense exertion can significantly reduce inflammation and accelerate muscle repair, minimizing downtime and helping to maintain peak performance (Ishii, Y., et al., Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 2005).
Acute Injury Recovery
When addressing acute injuries, a more aggressive, front-loaded protocol is often required to combat inflammation and initiate tissue repair. For example, a clinical trial on patients with acute ankle sprains found that seven daily treatments of 60 minutes significantly reduced swelling and pain (Borromeo, C. N., et al., The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1997). For more severe injuries, medical protocols can involve treatments once or even twice daily for the first several days to maximize the anti-inflammatory and healing effects.
General Wellness & Chronic Conditions
For individuals seeking general wellness benefits or support for chronic conditions, the frequency is often adjusted to a sustainable, long-term schedule. Many protocols for these goals involve sessions 3 to 5 times per week. The total number of sessions can range from 20 to 40, depending on the specific condition and the individual's response to the therapy, allowing the body to accumulate the benefits of enhanced oxygenation over time.
